Individual Therapy

I offer individual therapy to adults, which takes place either in my office space in Belfast or online from the comfort and privacy of your home. Therapy with me is a collaborative, reflective space where you can explore what’s been weighing on you, understand yourself more deeply, and begin to make sense of your experiences. Before we begin our therapy sessions, we’ll meet for an initial assessment. Sessions are usually weekly, though other arrangements can be discussed where appropriate.

My Therapy Room

How Therapy Sessions Work

Therapy sessions are a space for you to talk openly about what feels important, difficult, or confusing in your life. Some sessions may focus on current challenges, while others may explore deeper patterns, relationships, or past experiences that continue to shape how you feel today.

There’s no fixed agenda and no expectation to have everything worked out before you arrive. We work collaboratively, at a pace that feels right for you, paying attention to what emerges.

The Initial Assessment

The initial assessment is a gentle starting point where we get to know one another and explore whether working together feels right for you. During this, I’ll talk you through some of the practical aspects of therapy, including how I work, what you can expect from the process, and the responsibilities we both bring to our work together. It’s also a chance for you to get a sense of who I am and how I approach therapy, and to decide whether I feel like a good fit for you.

I’ll ask some questions about your background, relationships, and personal history. This helps me build a fuller picture of who you are and what has shaped your experiences, and allows me to consider how best to support you. Most importantly, the initial assessment is your space to share what has brought you to therapy and what you’d like to work through. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful, and you’re always welcome to share as much or as little as you feel ready to.

If at any point during the initial assessment — or afterwards — you feel that I may not be the right therapist for you, that’s completely okay. Finding the right therapeutic fit is an important part of the process. My priority is that you receive the support you need, and where possible, I’m happy to help you think about alternative options or suggest another therapist who may be a better fit for you.

What Happens After the Initial Assessment

After the initial assessment, I encourage you to take some time to reflect on whether working together feels right for you. Choosing a therapist is an important decision, and it’s okay to sit with how the session felt and consider what you need before moving forward.

If you decide you’d like to begin therapy sessions with me, I’ll let you know my availability and we’ll agree on a regular day and time that works for us both. I’ll then email you a small number of documents — including a therapy contract and privacy information — for you to read, sign, and return before we begin our first session. If you have any questions about them, you’re very welcome to ask at any time.

Whatever you decide, I want you to feel supported in finding the right space for you.

How Long Will Therapy Last?

The number of sessions we have together will depend on what you're bringing to therapy and what you want to work on. Some people come with a specific issue that may be explored over a shorter period, while others choose to work longer-term to look at deeper themes, patterns, or past experiences. There's no right or wrong amount of time — what matters is what feels most helpful for you.

Every six to twelve sessions, we'll take time to review how therapy is going. This gives us a chance to reflect on what's been helpful, what's shifting, and whether you'd like to make any changes to the focus or direction of our work.

This is your therapy, and my aim is to help you feel empowered to guide the pace, depth, and direction of our sessions. We'll shape the process of therapy together in a way that feels right for you.

Fees

  • Initial assessment: £35

  • Ongoing therapy sessions: £55

  • Initial assessment and sessions after 6pm and on weekends: additional £10

All sessions last 50 minutes, and fees are charged per session rather than per hour. Payment is made by electronic bank transfer at least 48 hours in advance to confirm your booking.

I review my fees annually each December. If any changes are planned, I will notify existing clients at least one month in advance.
